Hello my name id Dave v and I just found this website/forum group dedicated to milsurp. I am looking for a cheap M-1 Carbine, doesn't have to be a historical relic modern would be just fine. I had a carbine and the friend I sold it to to hold on to till I could buy it back ended up pawning it. The carbine was a gift from someone special and I am trying to fill this hole in my self.

Thanks for having this great site

    Dave v

    Devlin6,

Welcome to the Milsurps M1icon carbine forum. We have a lot of members in Florida. Have you checked the local shops or adds?

If or when you find what you want, we look forward to pictures.

    Jim

Dave, Welcome to the Forum. If you end up with wanting to buy a USGI Carbine. Try to take some pictures and post them here before you purchase it if you can. You will get some great information from these experts here possibly it could say you some money.

Welcome to the forum. Check local shops and even gunbroker when there is no buying panic. I feel your pain about the "friend" getting rid of your carbine. In the late 1980s, I had a complete set of original green painted over brown fiberglass 1960 vintage Colt AR15 furniture that was about 95% finish and an original 601 "early duckbill flash hider for the same weapon. I gave them to a friend, who was supposed to replace it. He disappeared as did the set of furniture and FH that would be worth about $800 to $1,000 alone!

Welcome to the Forum, Dave. You might also keep your eye on estate auctions and auction houses for carbines. That's how I acquired my first. Sometimes a gem pops up under the radar at these things, particularly if in a small town. Watch the online auctions and listen to the 'what's it worth' posts on this and other forums to get a feel of what to look for in a decent carbine and what you should reasonably pay to buy one. Good luck.
