Nambu Type 14 magazine follower / thumbpiece

I'm in the process of take down / inspection/ cleaning a Nambu, (Type 14) all going well except, can anyone advise how to disassemble the thumbpiece from the follower so I can remove them from the magazine to replace the magazine spring. Thanks in advance, Jim

My Type 14 is at my daughters now so I don't have ready access but if memory serves, I think you have to remove the two small pins at the base of the magazine and everything is removed from the bottom. At the bottom of the slot for the thumb piece there is an access hole that allows the follower thumb piece to be removed. But, you cannot remove it without taking off the bottom of the magazine because there is not enough space to compress the spring that far. Regards. Tom
