Home made No32 scope

There was a post late last year with someone had made a No32 scope replica that looked pretty good. I cannot find the post and am asking if other members recall the post or can find it. I am not sure if he was in Europe? and it was a hunting scope modified?

That is a rather remarkable transformation of a Weaver K! These scopes were made with post reticles...

The BIG drawback here....... In fact the almost insurmountable drawback I'd suggest........., is the fact that even when you have converted the Weaver or No42/53 tube and attached the new turret block you have STILL got to make two almost identical sets of drums.

Added later: .......... nope, it ain't going to happen! Even though there will be a reasonable demand for Mk3 drum assemblies to finish needy Mk3's or update Mk2's to Mk2/1's, nobody will make an outlay like that.

I know this is an old thread.

I am the guy who made the Weaver K3 converting there was asking fore in the start of this thread.

Since that I have converted a No42 REL 1944 to no32 Mk 3 replica using the advice from Peter Laidlers online series of articles.

And Peter have answers kindly to all my problem when I doo the job. Thanks for that.

I will point out that it is no atemp to make a fake scope. But only to make a good replica scope for shooting with my Long Brance "wan a bee" sniper.

And the result is verry good.

In our "old riffle club" wee have an intern competition over the year (12 shootings) 200m.
In the "sniper class" you may use a backpack or simular to stedy you riffle.
wee shot 15 counting round.

With my first Weaver converting my average was 142 point. with the no42 converting it is 145 point. (150 possible)
I should point out that my shooting is all without any "warm up / try round" all ajustment is done within the 15 round.
and in all wether condition over the year.

So it is possible to make a good replica scope using a no42/53. It take a lot of time and you have to make a lot of special tools and fixtures. But it is fun.

Do you have any pictures that shows the steps and tooling you use? Are you reducing the diameter of the tube and slipping on the turret? The No42 or 53 is a great place to start. Interested as I have a few scope bodies in my parts cabinet. Good job! Ron

Yes the tube are reduced to 1"
And I am sorry to say that I dont have any pictures.
But I will be happy to answer any quistion. (sorry for my bad English)

And I have no. exact drawing or blueprint of the MK 3 scope.

I have used Peter Laidlers book about the no.32 scope. It show good exploded views and have good information for what you need to know.

Then I have downloaded all Pictures I could find and print it out so there are at least one known measurement in correct size. If you do so, and tage all average measument. You will get pretty close.

But my scope is at one piece produktion (with all parts) but may not fit any original parts.

Superb JSNE. That is a one H of a lot of work. What did you do for the springs to hold the slipping scales?
