Fair offer price for a refinished P-08 G code

Local guy has a G code all matching P-08 for sale. The catch is its been refinished. Can't post pictures but all the tell-tale signs are there. Slightly rounded edges and dished out stamps and its highly polished. Straw colored parts have been scrubbed as well.
Fella is asking $1150.
What should I offer this guy?

How badly do you want a refinished example? I'm sure you know that a non-refinished G-Date could start at a minimum of twice the asking price.

Don't really but ever paying $3K for one isn't going to happen. Thinking $750-800,,,shooter pricing.
It's got an alloy mag base, shouldn't it be wood pre 1936?

Yes, should be a wood base.

It never hurts to make an offer. And if the goal is to have a G-date, it probably won't often be available much cheaper, even at the full asking price. But my head is in the same place as yours. A refinished should be at shooter grade value.

I wouldn't give $500 for a refinished P.08.
My shooter is a matching 1936 refinished with the lug ground off. I paid $300 for it about 3 yrs ago.

If you want to shoot it, `fully numbered´ is of no advantage. The `collector value´ is severely diminished by the `re-work´ done. It can only be compared to any other `shooter´, and it´d haven to reliable and accurate at the range to be even that.
