    access problems

Having all sorts of problems posting, cannot access the add attachments page, it keeps giving me an abbreviated window that just does not work.
Getting frustrating, as the Forum times out when I try to exit this attachment page.
It was good a few days ago?????????

Have updated, tried four different computers, three different servers.........fair giving me the shits.
Telstra are having a few outages that might have been the culprit, but still the same thru Optus.
Yeah, will be at Penrith Saturday morning.

This is something thats happened in the last couple of days, I had no problems loading files for my last posts about the mad minute.
But now I cannot enable the upload function.
Normal reading, scrolling and adding to posts is ok, just no upload for pic's or info.
I use IE, MOZILLA AND CHROME, still no success.

    Good morning partner ...

I'm not sure what is going on, as the only thing that's changed in the last week is that we have installed a new cloud based firewall system, to better protect our members from spam, viruses and site hacking. Although it's possible, I don't know why that would affect you only and cause issues that wouldn't normally be associated with just your ISP connection and not site activity such as messages etc.

Having said that, I'm having trouble understanding exactly what isn't working for you.

Are you saying that you can't open the window for uploading files to the site? The one that appears when you click on Manage Attachments when you are in the advanced editor add/reply to a post?

Is there any way you can email me a pic to badger@milsurps.com of what you're seeing? Perhaps take a screen pic?

We're showing that you are using Windows XP and in your first post FireFox v43.0 and in your last post MS Internet Explorer v8.0.

I use FireFox as well.. current version is 43.0.4, but I run on an Apple MAC with OSX operating system.

In the meantime, I'll check with the security firewall provider and see if there's any reason they can think of that would only affect you and in narrow range of functions you seem to be having a problem with.

Also, I'd recommend you log out from the site, clear your Internet browser's cache memory, then log back in.

I’m traveling on business all day today, so I may not get back to my computer to being able to add you, until tomorrow morning.

    Regards,
    Doug

    Good morning Muffet ...

Received your email with the pics below, as well as your comments about the problem associated with them.

Pic one is what I get at the moment, when I browse and add file (will not allow multiples) it just does not upload, it eventually times out and then I get a 504 notice when trying to get the site back. Also with that first window, my storage pic file is limited with many pics getting the red x.

    PIC 1
    Attachment 69831
    (Click PIC to Enlarge)

Pic two is what I used to get and is the same on a couple of other forums, this function is still okay on those forums. I have emptied my cache and done all the normal tricks, just no luck.

    Ok, where to start ...

First, there are two kinds of upload capabilities available, Advanced (select multiple files simultaneously, use drag and drop with mouse etc..) and Basic (select files one at a time). When you select Manage Attachments to upload files and attach them to any post, you start with the default Advanced screen. Using your personal Edit Options (click here) page, you can set which back and forth as to which method is your personal default.

    Attachment 69834
    (Click PIC to Enlarge)

You can also select and switch to the Basic method of uploading from the Advanced screen, even though your default may be set as Advanced.

This is the Advanced screen and you can switch to the Basic method while viewing it.

This is what the Basic screen looks like after you've selected that method while viewing the Advanced screen.
    Attachment 69832
    (Click PIC to Enlarge)

A an observation ... Your PIC 1 looks to me like the Advanced screen and your PIC 2 looks like the Basic method screen.

Have you tried uploading to our site by selecting and using the Basic screen uploading method, which is essentially your PIC 2?

When you say you you see a my storage pic file is limited with many pics getting the red x., do you actually mean it's a red exclamation mark ! as in this screen pic?

    Attachment 69835
    (Click PIC to Enlarge)

Finally, you say it eventually times out and then I get a 504 notice.

Is this the screen you see after the upload fails?

    (Click PIC to Enlarge)

If so, that means that your computer timed-out while sending (uploading) your files to our site, which in order to protect members from viruses and malware being uploaded, your files while uploading have to pass through our cloud based firewall first, before getting stored on the milsurps.com sever itself.

Although you are the only member out of the 26,000+ to report this problem during uploading, although remote, it's possible it could be a factor. I would need to investigate further and get our Sucuriicon firewall provider involved.

So, try the Basic uploader method and see how that works first, then let's go from there on the troubleshooting.

Hope some of this helps you ..

    Regards,
    Doug

    Thanks Doug, will try again.
The red x's are what you see when a pic is unavailable or removed from the forum.

bugger, pic's 1 and 2 are reversed, it's the large window I want back.

Tried as much as I know, which is not enough, even returned to defaults settings.
Still only giving me the small window and no access.
Have tried on I.E, CHROME, FIREFOX, using XP, Windows 7, Windows 10 and 10.1. this is on 10 at the moment ,but when I tried to post it a moment ago, it just timed out.
Even used two different search providers, I am just losing the page with either 504 timeouts or the whole forum with "Unable to access this page' notices.
    Will send email.

this is widows 10, I just took a pic of this message as it wouldn't post before....crazy
