Yes the SA I believe was threaded on by Them. But Brit F/E's never were. I have an SA converted Bren in 7.62mm in My collection. It is unusual in the F/E is SLOTTED. Very similar to the brit L4 Series.
And not the 'Standard' FAL Type that you have.

The SA FE is a Left hand thread for some reason. Tankhunter, could your FE be an Indian 7.62 version, they are very similar to an L4 FE.

HI BP, No it is an SA Version. It came with a large batch of the Ex SA Converted Brens to the UKicon. Mostly all of them were FAL Rifle 'Tubed' Types that you encounter over here.
Although, even the guns from this batch have dried up. As the guns now reside in Peoples collections!

EVERYONE in the UKicon MUST sign for BRITEX at the referendum! Otherwise, our Collections & this Country if FINISHED!.....

Don't panic! I have been in communication with one of Our M.E.Ps & she is VERY Helpful, Supportive. & right behind us. I have been in consultation with the London Proofmaster on several occasions on this topic.
He has writtern to the Home Office (As have I to M.E.Ps & Other Bodies) On matters technical. As to why the 'Proposed legislation will NOT Work!

It is unfair, Discriminatory, technicaly unworkable & unenforceable. it will do absolutey NOTHING to stop criminals or Terrosists. From going about their sinister business!

MPs now ARE listening to us. There has been a Tidal wave of protest & reasons/suggestions as to why this is SO wrong. And aimed at the Law abiding collector/reenactor.Museums/Living History/Vehicle owner sectors.

Do NOT panic, the hashed up knee jerk proposals ARE being rewritten & rehashed so it does not affect us......you have to remember, after they have Fuc.......Er. Mucked all this up. They MUST be left a way out. Without them having red faces!........

Just to make you laugh. I wrote just ONE of the reasons some of the ammendments will NOT work as follows. 'I as a Professional Armourer/Gunsmith. along with the worlds scientists. Ae bending over a Machine Gun. with the MOST anticipation. To see how your MPs are going to demonstrate. How a Steel belt feed mechanisem can be welded to an alliuminum top cover!'..............EG: M240, L7A2, Mag58, M60 Etc,Etc.

Also the proofmaster is agreement with Me. On the 'Difficulty' of inspecting that work has been carried out correctly on some classes of Weapon. With the magazine welded in!..........

DONT panic, sit tight. & with luck, we should get through this nonsense!....BUT, you must contact your MP & MEPs & KEEP the pressure up Chaps! The Battle is won. But the war is NOT yet over!..
And MOST IMPORTANT of all. you MUST vote OUT at the referendum!!!!!!!!
