    B&T VP9 suppressed pistol

Has anyone had a chance to try one of these modern versions of the Welrod? Is it really as quiet as they claim?

They'd probably be the best choice of ammo for this one. Eliminates crack at the exit...I'd use subsonic too. I'll bet this thing is about as quiet as they get though. Thinking of buying one?

Duplex bullet loading is uncommon here. Maybe he’s talking about duplex powder loads?

The barrel looks very short, so 124gr is probably not in it long enough to reach supersonic speed before the bullet exits and pressure drops.

With the locked bolt design you could shoot any weight bullet and not have to worry about changing springs, etc.

I would like to buy just the gun, not the suppressor. Suppressors are banned from importation, unless you’re a government agency. The gun alone could be imported but it looks like they are extremely expensive.

With “slide technique” you get a very quiet shot, but you can’t sight the pistol properly. I think this gun would be that quiet and have usable sights.

It’s interesting that after so many years the basic design of the Welrod hasn’t been beaten when using standard ammo. Some of Russianicon custom made ammo is extremely quiet and doesn’t require a bulky suppressor. There are always tradeoffs.

Pretty simple to have a quiet piece when it all stays contained like these do. Ugly as a mud fence, but works well.
