R.I.P. Speaks to the power of explosives as well--his right femur completely twisted up and around 180 degrees.

One would hope it was instantaneous and they did not suffer.
One thing that was said in Softly Tread The Brave By Ivan Southall to the RNVR mine disposal officers in WWII " Do not worry about the explosion of the mine if it goes up while your working on it because the explosion is faster than your nervous system you won't feel a thing.?
Just cease to exist literally except in atomized form......

I see a couple of 50 cal cases one near his Lft hand and another low rt mid field in the pic, also 2 50 cal disint links mid field left of pic and one near his Lft hand

In another book Strike from the Sky about the bombing of the factories in Englandicon and the battle of Britain it talks about a manufacturing plant that was bombed and the effect of high explosives in a confined area one girl was quite dead as she sat on her stool looking like a wax dummy perfect in every way the concussion killed her, another girl of her only part of her lower body was left sitting serenely on the seat nothing else damn awful stuff really but a sad fact of the way war was.
