    I remember reading as a teenager about the evolution from Schneider Cup racer to Spitfire that Mitchell used an inverted V engine because he knew the Germans were going to poach design features for their fighter programme.

    As promised, a glimpse inside the Rebuild hanger.
    If you wondered where the Kittyhawk got to................. engine overhaul.
    this hanger has a few planes in various stages of repair, you saw some of them in earlier photo's.

    If its the ghost, i saw it about 5 months ago at the Army Air Aviation museum at Oakie. They said then it was not airworthy and needed some major overhaul before it could legally fly again

    Lets start with the Rebuilds, Scone is where the majority of old Warbirds are Refurbished or Rebuild, often from scratch.
    This one is active

    The three Spitfires that were started last year have made fair progress.......... nearly there
    coming together

    just needs time.

    three different levels of progress, but it is just as easy to make up parts for several as it is to just make it for one.
