The ex-Charles Church/Dave Price/Ed Russell Hurricane XII looks great in it's 46 Sqn scheme. Nice to honor an Aussie BoB pilot that was from the local area to Scone.

The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA is having its fly-in on the weekend of the 19th-20th. They've got twenty WWII fighters, six WWII bombers, twelve WWII trainers, three WWII liaison planes, fourteen WWI planes, two of which are over 100 years old and the rest are reconstructions, and three pre-WWI reconstructions. Virtually everything flies.

They've also relocated a WWII hangar from Cottbus, Germanyicon, that was used from 1941-1944 by the Focke-Wulf Company for storage and a base for test flights while manufacturing the Fw200 Condor and Fw190 fighter plane. Near the end of World War Two, the Ta152 aircraft was assembled there. They've also relocated the WWII control tower from the first USAAF base in Englands at Goxhill, Englandicon, to their field.

There will be other planes flying in as well.

I was leaning out of my hotel room window on my phone to show my wife that the forest fire smoke had cleared when a B29 flew over. It was Doc making a visit to the base she was dragged out of. A beautiful aircraft but for me, nothing beats the sound of the 4 Merlins on a Lancaster.

I remember when I was a child, at an Air Show at Williamstown, the roar of the Lincoln Bombers and the sounds of the synchonised engines over head on a flypast.
The roar of the Meteors and Vampires had nothing on that sound.

Just need to wait until March 2022 for our next airshow.....a lot happening here in Scone at the moment.

Hat's off to them, more history that now will be perpetual instead of being in the way at some point and irrelevant, so being destroyed in the name of progress...

A bit of buzzing around today, a Mustang burning holes in the air, closely followed by a great performance from a Kittyhawk, I guess a bit of practice for the Illawara Air Show at the end of the month is in order.
