    Burton Rifle

    Good day.
I aquired this rifle some time ago and I'm finally getting around to posting some pics of it on here, I thought maybe some of the members here may be interested to see it.
    As far as I know it's a Lee-Burton or Bethel-Burton.
First post on here, hopefully this works.

It pains me to see the Bethel Burton with some rust on it.
I chased that rifle for so many years and could almost write a book on it.
I held it almost 35 years ago and it had no rust on it then so I has been hidden away in poor storage conditions.
If you want to get in touch with me by PM and an email address I'll cry in your beer about it.
OR maybe we can make a deal !!! :-)##

Not just a rare bird, an extinct one! Might have inspired the Kragicon-Jorgensen?
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

    Thanks for the responses.
I'm in Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory. I got the rifle a while back, from an old timer here in town.
It's a shame it's suffered a bit during it's life up here, although it could easily have been far worse.

For anyone curious but lacking the references, according to "Catalogue of the Enfield Pattern Room", 300 (?- typo in the book) Lee Burtons were built along with 300 Remington-made Lees and used in a trial to select the magazine system to be used commencing in May, 1887. The Lee magazine was, of course, selected marking the end of the Bethel Burton magazine concept.

This rifle was in excellent plus condition. Then it got walled up in an unheated room by a chap who was living a bit like a hermit. There were a number of other guns similarly entombed, all suffered.
Two were Mk. VI Webleys in near new condition. Another was a '38 dated P08 which was also very fine. On the inside of one grip is inscribed AVOLA SICILY JULY 10 1943.

Did you used to have a Gun story up there?

Did you shoot at Connaught in 97 and 98?

Trigger: Can I ask if you're contemplating the sale of this rifle? It would be healthy for it to live here in rust free Alberta!
