It’s built like a tank. Very solid indeed.



Super easy to field strip.



The conversion from open bolt to closed bolt is done well.





Nice sling loops.



The magazine release is a bit cumbersome.



1911 grip style safety. Probably the worst feature on the gun.







Good sights.



Probably the best feature is the quick change barrel.

Real nice Uzi Vincent what's the story behind it? Is it a new toy? Who built it? Super difficult to impossible to get SBRs here where I'm at, but I think they look the best when in that configuration.

I love UZIs, lot of people complain they're to heavy, but I think that helps to keep the recoil down. They're easy to strip and clean, tons of aftermarket parts, they look cool, the magazines are easy to load, what's not to love?

The grip safety can be a real pain, it takes a while to get used to, some people disable them, arguing that it's there to prevent SMG runaways, or that MACs don't have them, but I personally would not recommend doing that. One more layer of safety is a good thing.

Very nice Vincent, it looks to be in excellent condition, thanks for sharing. I used to have a wooden stocked IMI made, ex German military example.

Did IMI manufacturer a semi auto version, or are they converted full autos?

I always thought my ex German example represented perfectly the rapidly changing geo political environment in the post war period. Its amazing that the FRG was procuring SMG's from Israel so soon after the war, I wonder if Israel was hesitant in engaging in that deal initially?

The B model was made by IMI as a semi-auto only. Converting full-auto Uzi parts kits to semi-auto-only is quite popular here now. There’s a glut of FA Uzi parts kits on the market making them cheap.

I don’t know if German weapons production had fully recovered by 1959. At the time the Uzi was pretty advanced.

I can see where Uziel Gal might have been hesitant to sell his guns to the Bundeswehr. He was German born and fled from the Nazis. But “Ethics in the Weapons Business” is a very short book. The Israelis are no exception.

Did IMI produce the semi version for other countries?

I was under the impression that their semi design was for BATF approval. But maybe it superseded. Things like the restrictor ring and smaller I.D trunnion was from their design but are not necessary, and often left out when converting FA parts or doing re-welds.

Yep, it did, long gone now unfortunately, I will have to see if I can find any pictures of it .

Here it is, a bit rough, I never got the opportunity to restore it, as it went as a part payment for my live Enfield L1A1 four years back ... so fair trade!
