I believe this Rock-Ola to be a restoration. It just doesn't smell right to me.

I never said it was the same carbine. I posted that to show the red stock which was questioned

That is a nice looking Rock-Ola. I'm guessing the high bidder asked for and received additional pictures. Whether it's 100% original or not, that is quite the price and it still a 1 1/2 days to go.

I know who the seller is and I seriously doubt that there is anything wrong with this carbine. He is one of the best known collectors in the country. I've seen a lot of his stuff and most of it is either extremely rare or in perfect condition. My AO/IBM/NPM came from him. I know he also had a tool room carbine for sale not too long ago. Jim, you probably know him too, or at least know of him. Its Paul I. While I agree $20,000 is a lot of $, whoever is bidding knows that they are getting the real McCoy.

The bolt still doesn't look right but at least the new pics don't make it look as Parkerized as the first ones. I'll just shut up about it - the thing is above my pay grade anyway. $20,000! I had not heard of any carbine going that high before.

There are other carbine's I would rather have for that amount of money. For 20K you could probably buy a nice spring tube Rock-Ola, a 3,2 IP, a 4 digit Inland and a early M1A1 these 4 together would far out appreciate this 6,2 Rock-Ola.

Just 14 months ago I came across a presentation Rock-Ola with all the documentation,case, NIW mags, never fired for $9500. and I'm pretty sure it's still for sale.

I'm thinking that if this carbine had a REAL buyer at $20,000 it maybe time to sell my 6.2 , and I think if I list it at $15000 buy it now on GunBroker what a bargain that will be .. ;]

I couldn't agree with this more. You can cut this Rock-ola auction 7 ways to Sunday and it's still not a 20k carbine. Just how many 20k carbines are out there and what would qualify it to truly and I mean truly be worth that amount is probably beyond some people's comprehension.

I think it would have to be Audie Murphy's carbine to be worth that much. BUT! The market is as the market does; what anything is worth is how much somebody is willing to pay for it. I say an online auction is as valid as a collectors' group when it comes to pricing - maybe more so.

Recycle; thanks for posting yours. It answered most of my questions about the other one since they both have similar characteristics. So its either an unbelievable coincidence or more believably, simply the way they were. And, yes, if the other one was worth $20K, yours would be very close to it.
