the indians went from this to the rear tie plate. so did the ishapore factory continue to have draws problems with splits and such? did this application not work at all?
India went from the Stock-bolt keeper plate to this & then the No4 type tie plate, so yes to your question

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Yep, 5th Batt is right. I didn't notice the brass tie rod. Stock bolt keeper plate, brass threaded tie rod then No4 across the rear plate. I'm suprised nobody hasn't repaired a broken/cracked rear end using a No4 tie nut bolt and nut method.

But then it would be either an Ishy (Mmmm) or a Bubba repair. But then if it keeps the rifle in action why not.

I have some LE 1s with a cross bolt no plate, without checking they maybe private sale not Military. There is one range LE1* range rifle with the cross bolt
