This is where I point out that the pictured individual is not a 'Boot neck', but rather an RCN or RN Petty Officer.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Deleted one and only post which was a WTS ad, as well as banned member for suspicious selling.

I had posted about my Ross about a year ago on gun boards. And on that post there was a good discussion on the Ross rifles as well as ones that were on the HMS Canadaicon which went with the ship when it was sold to the Chileanicon Navy in South American. Ray

My recent acquisition is a PLY and E marked MKIII Ross with shortened wood but full length barrel. It is in amazing condition with a nice bright barrel and great rifling. I am planning on replacing the stock and using it for a display piece.

Sorry to bring my post of my Royal Marine Ross back up after so long, but I had just took it out of the safe to clean it and I realized it does not have an LC..stamp on it for a larger chamber...Apparently the navy did not feel it was necessary in ship board usage to increase the size of the chamber....

Maybe it stayed in the small arms locker and really didn't come out. The weapons techs navy would be far more interested in the ship's ordnance than the rifles. I'm quite sure of that after being infantry on board a man 'o war myself... We've already established elsewhere here that mods weren't always done just because an order was published.
    Regards, Jim
