Remington Model of 1917 8/18 barrel stamp value in the US

Amongst my collection I have a unfired still in it's grease Remington M17 8/18 manufacture.
Being still in grease it has not been detailed or spruced up (nothing has been done to it)
wood has very slight marks from armoury handling and storage but plate lacks spit and polish but everything else is fine .Haven't checked the barrel because it's still greased up.
Given that it is a homeland weapon for you guys I would be greatfull to get some idea of a value in your opinions.
    cheers

I am sorry no one responded. I would need quite a bit more information.

Hard telling what you have as Australiaicon is almost 100% a WWII shipment.
side note: I had a 1903 A3 that was assembled in Australia in WWII, interesting oddity, not a log of interest.

So what we would be looking for is the Receiver being a Remington (R), barrel being R stamped (and a date). Its possible its had barrel replaced. Should be a stamp on the front of the stock, R, W or E though none is found and sometimes others.

Stock condition? Stampings and marking in particular, if really lucky its never been stamped but that is rare. there should be a P on the bottom ahead of the trigger.

then it gets into all the fiddly parts. Something like 47 will have a stamp on them.

Warning: complete disassembly of the rifle is required to get to all parts, if at partial you find other than R then its a don't bother per below.

If its been re-arsenaled those can be E, W as well as R and some others a bit less common but do crop up.

Pristine WWI that got put in cosmo , never shot or used, all matching parts, I would give you $1200 for it in a heartbeat.

More likely its been re-arsenaled with other parts been replaced, stock not pristine, various stampings on the side. Really good condition maybe 750. so so, 550. All US of course.

Some barrels were replaced in WWII and those would be RI (that is a good one and value by itself), JA and HS.

    Beat up, less.

I would want a Muzzle Wear and Throat Erosion reading. Not sure you can get that over there.

If you can get Ferris book on the 1917 (used its pretty low cost) it fills in a lot of the history and then easier to talk.
