    TR stamping on this No4T

A '44 dated rifle with a '43 Mk1 scope. Any comments on the TR stamping. Legit?

All off the major components are legit original but have been assembled together from different rifle's. The scope serial number remarking is not correct and the butt scope s/n is questionable without seeing other butt markings. The rifle TR and T stamps on the receiver are correct.

I have to wonder if it went through a base workshop why they did not strike out the serial No. on the wrist of the butt and put the new scopes serial No. on it, apart from that it looks ok I own a 47C "T" 1944 and my T on the reciever is about the same as this one pictured but I will leave it to more experienced advisers.

I rebuilt that telescope in 1994. It wasn't on that rifle or bracket then!

Neat how these things migrate together. It's very carefully written to lead you to read original but doesn't actually say it.

It appears this rifle has now been sold. It was advertised at £3495.

I hope the new owner is not disappointed!

It may well appear here for us to see, with the new owner preening for complimentary praise. We've seen it before and the poor sod end's up finding out his error...
