    30 Bayonet button release

I just bought a type 30 bayonet for my Type 99 but the button release is missing. I have another complete type 30 and would like to remove the parts from it to use for machining new parts for my new one. I have been looking for replacement parts for a couple weeks not and it appears they are going to be hard to find. Both hand grips appear to have screws in them. In any case I need to know how to remove and reinstall the parts anyone have any experience with this?

The screws are just screws and the press stud is a screw in like any other. I grabbed one in the protected vise jaws and unscrewed it like that. Thing is they've been flushed and blended so you'll have a rough end after when you reassemble. Same with the screws in the slabs.
    Regards, Jim

Thanks for the info Jim probably save me from damaging my complete bayo. Still I would like to find an original button to throw on there. I can have one made but then it's not all original. So far the option I have found for parts is buying a beat up bayo on ebay for $60 if I can find one.

If you can post a pic, I will have a look for you on Sunday at The Birmingham International, (a UKicon Military, arms and Armour fair). I,m only dropping a few items off but will have a quick look around see if there is anything of interest and keep an eye out, always a few scrap or damaged bayonets that parts can be salvaged from.

If I'm not sure how to dismantle/strip a piece of military equipment I normally find it worthwhile looking on YouTube and while I don't know if it will be any help on this occasion it may be in the future with other items.
