    Jim,

What are the regulations up in Canadaicon? Can you own a FA or semi. Bren? Here in the US we don't have worry about fixing demills as Bren barrels currently can't be imported but there are plenty available. Thanks for your experience as this is a new subject for me.

You can own an F/A if you were one of the lucky many years ago but now that's past. They were registered and those that own are grandfathered to own and buy and sell...but no new owners can be created. Things like spare parts are moot because you can't take them out to shoot any more anyway. Semi auto converted from F/A are called converted auto and they too are grandfathered, and a class unto themselves. No new owners are to be created.

This should be the final repair plan I reckon - thanks to everyone for their input.

    1. Repair the hole using a threaded plug
    2. Bore out chamber to 16.5mm as drawn.
    3. Shrink fit insert and rechamber.

The plug protrudes into the OD of the bored out section of the barrel, so it will support the end of the insert.

I'll make the insert out of 4140 with a minimum proof stress of 840 MPa. Considering the insert as a barrel by itself, it would be right on the limit of yielding with a chamber pressure of 49 K psi.

    Guys,

I was scratching my head trying figure out what the final repair configuration was. All the links to the detail sketches are no longer good. I searched my files and found the attached. Though maybe someone would be interested.

I hope Richard will sent some pics.

    Joe

    Guys,

I'm pretty sure what I posted is the final configuration, but I would also like to see some pics.
