    Just showing off my 03A3.

Just wanted to show off my Remington 03A3.
It was made in 8-44 and overhauled at Ogden after the war.
When I go it it was full of cosmolineicon and I do not think it was ever shot or issued.
One big reason I think this is because I had to make a pin and "punch" it thru the front sight base. When I cleaned the rifle , I saw the pin was missing and the hole had never been punch thru...
Anyways , I really enjoy this rifle . I have a photograph of my Grandfather with one in Japanicon after the War . During the War he fought with the 11th Airborne.
Kinda neat having a rifle he also used.

A 8-44 barrel is a replacement. They stopped making them around 2-44. If you take the serial # you will find out when it was originaly made.

Any M1903A3 barrel beyond 12-43 (or maybe 1-44) is a replacement. Obviously, the rifle was in service long enough to need another barrel. It may well not been issued after it was overhauled.
