A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Excellent article on reforming brass to 7,62x45mm, years ago there was a wildcat 22 based on the 7,62x45mm case. I often thought that if you found
one of these rifles with a bad bore, why not attempt to rebarrel to the Sovieticon 5,45x39mm

Wow, it really cleaned up nice! Another option is a x39mm chamber insert but I decided to pass on that idea, mainly because they are held in by Loctite, so once the receiver heats up they are prone to ejecting with a spent shell. I'd imagine lacquered shells and case necks compound this issue.

I will be stubborn and keep it in the original caliber. I saw the chamber insert but I'm not all that comfortable with them either. Worst case scenario I can get a couple of brass boxer primed boxes from Buffalo Arms, $50 a box so sort of last resort. I don't need to shoot it but this is admittedly one that looks like a blast to shoot. I was told Saturday that the ammo is available at the Allentown show at least. Hopefully the same guy will be at Oaks or Harrisburg.

Got 140 rounds today at Harrisburg, so I'm set. A bit over 50 cents a round so not terrible.
