    M1 Carbine pouch real of fake?

    I have a chance to pick this up for 20 shipped. Its the butt stock type. Byscaine tent and awning. Thanks for any help.

    Yes, it's a real pouch. They made MILLIONS of those. They'll be appearing NOS for two hundred years I'll bet. This one's good.

    There is not such thing as a butt stock pouch, they are all belt pouches.

    Of the various styles of belt pouches, this variation fits over the M1icon Carbine butt stock, the others not so well.

    He means by original design. Someone, somewhere, sometime, found they would slip over the stock. It went from there.

    Yep, it is Type I belt pouch. The snap is to engage the snap on the web belt. Very early on, ingenious GIs realized that it fit very handily over the stock. Officers who had a pistol and a Carbine would often just have pistol mags on the belt, and the pouch on the Carbine. My dad, an NCO on Iwo Jima, used a stock pouch and a belt pouch or two. He wasn't issued a pistol.

    I could have sworn he was asking if it was an original pouch for M1icon carbine mags. The stock pouch part is just wank and I paid no attention to it. He hasn't come back anyway so...
