    30/40 Krag

Why is no one making 30/40 Kragicon brass or ammo??? I have been watching for months. I know about using 303 Britishicon brass. I have only been able to get 1 box of Remington 30/40 ammo. What is going on??? I have built a beautiful 1898 [checked serial number] 30/40 Krag. Is this what I have to look forward to. I have a lot of Millsurps and love playing with them. Is something going on ???

Brass is hard to find but factory ammo should be easy to come by if you look around online. In fact I know Midway has it right now. Just save the brass that you have shot. That's what I do.

The only easy to find brass in Sydney at the moment is S&B., not sure on price but nowhere near that. Im lucky i have a life supply of HXP so not going to get caught up on this ridiculous pricing.

Try Western Firearms in Beverley Hills NSW, I'm sure you will get it for much much less than $75 for 50 there.

This question came up in the Kragicon Collectors Association Forum. Apparently Remington makes it in seasonal batches so it should start being available around the start of hunting season. Also Selway armory sells HSM ammo which I also believe is seasonal. As far as brass is concerned, save every piece you have! Supposedly Remington will make empty around hunting season as well.

The other thing you could do is email ammo companies. I have sent Hornady, Jamison, and Starline emails regarding making brass. Hornady said they had no plans but would pass the message along. I have yet to get a response from Starline or Jamison. The more people we get to write the greater chance of success we will have.

Gave up trying to to find 30/40 brass. Renecking 303 Brit which works just fine. The brass is slightly shorter but not where it will cause a problem, unless you are trying to compete with it.

Remington makes 30.40 ammo. I can find it here in Chehalis, WA at a store called Sunbirds. I pay a little less than $40.00 for twenty rounds. If you do decide to make the trip, call before you go, they'll starting getting their hunting ammo about September.

So I'm late to the party...

Try Graf & Sons. I just scored 100 units of new, empty brass from them.

I bought a box of Winchester 30-40 for $25. I don't even own a Kragicon. I would love to have on though...
