My put togather A4 in finished

As some of you remember, last October I found an 03A4 that had been sporterized into a 300 Win Mag. I was able to salvage the action, original scope base and bolt. Everything else was a mix of parts, but I had been saving A4 parts for 15 to 20 years looking for an action. The only thing I didn't have was a barrel, so I used a new 7-44 RA two groove. I will try to attach all the pictures at once, but if not will add them one at a time. Ric

    Nice Job Rick!

I helped a friend "restore" one. He bought it as a "sporterized" rifle. It had most ALL of the original parts including the barrel. Only problem was, someone actually bored out the original barrel to .35 calibre and re-cut the rifleing to make it a .35 Whelen !! With a barrel swap and scope replacement, he had a decent A4.

    FWIW,

    Emri

Nice job, Ricin. Have you had time to "sight her in" yet?

Jim, I only have about 40 rounds through it. Since I'm a cast bullet shooter, it doesn't group all that well when it is below freezing and windy. But it has started out with 1 3/4" 100 yard 10 shot groups with load of Lyman 311284 and 16.0 grains of A2400. So far, I am quite surprised with the late RA barrel quality and two pieced dove tailed SA stock. Ric

I hope you're not planning on shooting it in the Military "issue sight" class! Me and my 03A3 might have a problem keeping up.

Ten shots into 1 3/4" at 100? Crimminy! My A4 doesn't do that well with ball ammo! Shooter maybe?

    Bill,
Nope, as you know issue class is "standard" infantry rifles only. I may bring it to the Nationals in Iowa this summer and shoot against all the match prep'ed scoped guns though.

    Jim,
That will only get you into the "also ran" class in CBA scoped military rifle matches. You have to be sub-minute for 5 shot groups and 1 1/4" 10 shot groups to be in the leaders. If you haven't check out the CBA website and looked at the records in a while, you will be surprised.

    Ric
