Question Hello, new to this forum. Would like to know how to mount a Colt 3 x 20 handle mount

I have a Colt 3 x 20 handle mount scope for the AR15's, but would like to know if there is an adapter to mount it to the new AR15's with the flat, weaver mount? I guess that is the A3? I have had it for many years, great scope, but would like to use it on my newer gun. I have looked for mounts, but all leads come back to the handle mount. Any ideas?

Well, they make a handle / rear sight assembly that bolts to the picatinny rail ( they are not Weavers) atop an AR . The old style scope would then bolt into the handle like normal . You need the height to a line your scope with your eye . That is all that I'm aware of .
You could remove the screw assembly from the base and then drill and tap a couple of holes in the base and then bolt it to a picatinny riser or QD base .

The carry handle is the only way to use that scope. Otherwise, you'll need to cobble up a mount and screw to mount things to the weaver rail.

Probably not worth the effort. I want a Colt or similar scope at some point on my carry handle AR for occasional use/looks as do many others with retro builds so it's a sellers market but if I wanted a dedicated optics platform I'd go with a flat top every time as the effort and cost to mount the carry handle scope on a flat top will leave you with a setup that likely isn't going to be as pleasant as the modern options out there. If you throw it up on an auction site you should easily get the money to buy a new scope and mount for your flat top.
