    in the picture of the 3 NZicon soldiers the guy on the right has a bayonet on his rifle and a bayonet in his scabbard. it makes me wonder if the bayonets on the rifles were added for dramatic effect like frank hurley used to add elements to his photo's in ww1.

    I would say a good many photos were "posed" during brief down times. Still, it captures a moment in time, so to speak. Some of the coloring is a bit off as one of the but plates has been colored silver, rather than brass in color.
