    Franken-FAL Rises Again (In Progress)

So awhile back I got a FN-FAL at a local auction. I got it for a steal because it looked pretty fugly. Works great though and I decided I wanted to get it back to something a little prettier.

It was a Century kit that saw the wrong end of the assault weapons ban. Also the black plastic furniture and the odd choice to paint the metal some kind of bluish grey didn't do it favors. So I found some wood furniture online for a decent price, and have gotten to this point. This is only the first step. I will have the metal refinished soon.

    After

    Close-up of butt stock

    Grip

    Handguards

One is a lot lighter than the other.

Minor crack on the right guard by the screw.

Once I get the metal refinished I will consider redoing the finish on these. Right now though I love the character they add. So what do you guys think? A step in the right direction?
