    Beautiful Berthier

    A little closer...

The subject of this post is the lower carbine in the Beech furniture.

    Matching numbers...

    Including the bolt head...

And now to the best part...

The "PK" indicates she was part of a Parkerizing test group from MAC in the early 1930s.
Also, enjoy the hand engraved "M 16".

There is a large recoil lug installed on the bottom of the receiver, which I don't have a photo to illustrate, unfortunately. These were added to Balle N marked carbines to prevent stock disintegration from firing the hot & heavy MG ammunition.
    The Balle N mark...

I have another N marked carbine sans recoil lug and I really should add photos of this and the lugged carbine to vividly depict the reason the lug was added.
    Give me a couple days.

I saw one of these at the gun show, but the rifle was missing the front cap that goes on the front of the stock, I would have bought it but the part was missing, he said he would take $100

I didnt know enough about these or how hard it would be to get a spare part, so I didnt buy it

it was a Mle 1916 Berthier
