You did overpay a bit, that being said it still looks like it would be a fine hunting rifle (I certainly do like the lines more than pretty much all the modern hunting guns).

It is a very nice looking rifle and has a look that some will pay for. I think you probably did OK. You won't sell it to a collector but a fellow shooter or hunter perhaps.

My first Milsurp I bought as a young man and the Internet didn't exist was a sweet British No1 Mk3 Lee Enfield. Gorgeous shiny stock. Oh, I could just feel the WW1 history flowing though my hands. I gladly laid the cash on the table. Was this rifle at the Somme? Maybe it fought at Ypres or dare I ponder,,,,Gallipoli.

Nope, it's a 1948 Ishapore. The stock was sanded to within an inch of it's life and Bubba Goo liberally applied.....
Still have it except the Goo has been removed. Your right, we ALL have done it.

When I was about 19, I bought an AR 180. It was later identified as an original Costa Mesa select fire. I paid $500 CDN (1976)... I later traded it for a Japanese navy Katana, which I later traded for a Scottish undressed Basket sword worth maybe $800. I later was talked into trading that for a US cavalry blade of about 1860 model, worth considerably less. When I found out how badly I'd done, I sold the saber for $100 CDN to get it away from me... That is but one story...
