I don't think that they will be made of Stainless Steel but they would most likely have a high Chrome content in the special alloy steel that they are made of. The high Chrome content is for wear resistance and there will also be other additives that make up the alloy which the push rods are made of.

The high Chrome content may give the steel the appearance of Stainless Steel.

You mentioned Japanese writing is visible on them, in post 1, are you able to post a picture, please? I can't read, or speak for that matter, Japanese but others who use this Forum maybe able to.

I tried but with no luck.

That's too bad, I would have enjoyed trying to run it through the universal translator.

Assuming that you took it, did you find your universal translator useful in Afghanistan, Darren, perhaps for having a "chat" with a Taliban suspect?

I'm imaging a somewhat "different" language, probably not available in a translator, for that particular chat...

I have one from there, I will scan in some photos when I have some time perhaps.

However the firearms speak a manner of universal language, but in that country many folks are de-sensitized to them, so you have end every series of gestures with a bit of local Pashto, phonetically it was something like Kana-whalem-day (..or I will shoot/kill).

We did have interpreters ('Terps) hired from the local populace, for stuff that mattered, luckily my exposure to detainees was capture, searching, and passing back down the line to our Military Police assets or the local Police.

As far as capturing Taliban, I never knew who was what, our detainees would have that determination made long after we had passed them off to Police.

Back on to Japanese pushrods, I have a smart phone application that knows more languages than I know, so I just photograph the script or "draw" the characters into the program, and use logic based on the subject matter to make conclusions on what is says.

I find the Asian script languages can challenge it, but Russian for example is it very effective.
