Sten Pistol Grip stock Currently for sale on eBay U.K.

There is currently a Sten Pistol Grip stock for sale on eBay U.K. which is described as N.O.S.. Looking at the picture which accompanies the listing it is certainly rusty which, perhaps, adds something to it's patina? I was wondering if there was any consensus of opinion on the likely-hood of this item being genuine WW2 production that has somehow languished in storage for the last 75 or so years???

I don't have the computer skills to reproduce the listing here myself but it should be found by tapping in Sten Pistol Grip Stock to eBay U.K..

The only ones of the sort shown by Vince that we had, had the frame of the grip part extended underneath and then formed 90 degrees upwards. This part of the grip formed the anti-rotation stop. This part simply replaced the button stop. This feature, in my humble opinion, would make this type more original. After all, why add the extra machining of the button, drilling and welding when you could just use the extended grip to do the same

Ah, yes........ just looked at the book, p.112 and 339 shows a couple of originals.

Thanks for putting the link in place, philb, to the eBay listing. It will be interesting to see if there is any interest in this item and if so how much it makes. I guess that the closest that anyone would be likely to get to obtaining a genuine pistol grip stock is to purchase an original skeleton stock and then convert it to pistol grip configuration, as described in Peter's book?

Good point about the button, Peter. Looking at the picture on p.259… It shows a No1 Mk1 grip with the button and the No2 Mk2 grip made as you described. The loop for the sling is on my to-do list. Also, a “plate cover” for my Mk5, p.265.

I would imagine that more complex shape of the No1 grip plus the button was just over complicated for what was really required. The No2 type was the answer! I never really got the definitive written answer regarding the little extra loop but the reversed sling loop seems the most probable and obvious

I have used a reproduction grip. It was pretty uncomfortable, but it did the job. The Canadianicon paratrooper grip looks like it would be more comfortable.
