    I don't think the rifle needs to be out of the stock to remove the recoil lug but you might need to take it out to get the new one in. Only reason I can think of for the missing parts is the guy you bought it from salvaged them to complete the rifle with the mum that he has.

    Both my missing parts came in, so I installed them and have the rifle looking correct again. I took a few more nice photos so show her off with the bayonet on it. I'm feeling much better about it since I put the screw and recoil bolt on it. I just was worried I overpaid a bit much. Thanks everyone!
