    Mossberg 44 information needed

    Hi all,
My first post, thanks for having me.
I just purchased a Mossberg 44 rifle at a local Cabelas. The rifles' stock was altered (cut down-missing butt plate) and has a little blued finish left but mostly brown patina left on the metal. The serial number is 141,37X. The rear sight is a mossberg s-100, front is a covered post. receiver factory drilled for peep sight and for scope mount just left of ejection port. Both receiver and barrel marked U.S. Property.

I would like to know manufacture date, parts availability including butt plate, stock, and extra magazine. value if i get it back to original configuration.

    thanks,
    Robb

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I found Numrich had a range of parts. I needed to repair a few bits on my M42MB and they had a good range of spares for a lot of models. Shipping some stuff to Australiaicon can be a problem.

This website has not been updated for a while, but it contains good information on the Mossberg 44. http://www.cobs.com/lprgc/m44faq.htm You can get to it using bing or google, and searching by "Mossberg 44 US". I t usually shows up as the second or third site.

There are usually parts for this rifle on e-bay in the US.
