    No4T throwing rounds.

Earlier this year I picked up another no4 T with transit chest for what I thought was a fantastic price for todays' market. Anyway, I wanted to shoot this one with the intention of bringing it to the CMPicon Anniston games. I could not figure out why I could not get good groups out of it as the first 7-10 rounds were on ok but not perfect, then rounds would start flying 4-5 inches away from the group. Hand loads are used and normally MOA or less from my other T's. On inspection of the action screws, scope mounting screws, turrets for windage and distance; all seemed good. Finally my friend noticed the front hand guard was moved forward enough, touching the front sight. We repositioned the front hand guard and voila... the weapon is spot on even through 20 continuous rounds with a hot barrel. Also the groups are now submoa. I have to assume when the barrel heated up, the front hand guard put just enough pressure on the barrel to throw rounds off the aim point making my afternoon very frustrating. An important lesson on minor things causing major problems. I love my T!

A rifle is only as good as the rifleman and the group speaks for itself. How far are you from Pall Mall TN anyway?

    Loading my rounds.

I used for this PPU brass, trimmed to specs then WLR primers, with RL15 41.5 grains behind a .311 smk projectile. I never thought I would get this rifle right and I just could not figure why, given the weapon history. My friend who is smarter than me when it comes to trouble shooting helped and made it right. Pall Mall? not sure where that is but I'm in northwest tennessee.

My loads are almost identical apart from the propellant. I use 41 gr N140.

Velocity is running about 2550 ft/sec... I have set my 100 yards target at zero on scope distance and my come ups are pretty spot on (depending on temp and relative altitude) at 200-707 yards. Why 0 for 100 you ask.... I suppose because it works. And the distance on the scope doesn't necessarily correspond with distance on the range. A mortar maybe, but not close enough for a bullet. I just count clicks and I am happy.

We had a whole thread about sorting that out. Then it doesn't move anywhere again...

    As Jim says, Speckles.
Stake the band and it won't let the guard move forward again.
