Sight picture for Finn Carcano M38

Does anyone know what the correct sight picture is for the Finn M38? I know the Finns raised the front sight, but is the "mauser" sight picture used, or the Italianicon version with the front sight held at the bottom of the rear V? Thanks. upperfarm

Different ranges used different sight pictures (for the original front sight). If I remember correctly bottom of the notch was 200m and top of the notch was about 350m. Kinda a efficient way to do things, though not the most accurate though realistically its more a matter of snap shooting anyways.

The Finns changed the zero on this rifle by increasing the height of the front sight. I am trying to figure out before I get to the range how to hold the target in my sights. I only have 40 rounds of 7.35, and don't want to waste any figuring out whether I should be holding the way the Italians did (for zero put tip of sight at bottom of V), or the mauser hold with the top of the front sight at the top of the V. I have access to a 200 yard range, so I can replicate the 150 meter Finn zero. (164 yards about)

I suspect if they changed the sight it is so they can have a Mauser style sight picture (like every other rifle they used) and be on at either 200m or 150m. In any case it will be easy to find out, shoot 5rds with a standard Mauser sight picture and I suspect that will be dead on or close to it.
