I know what "CM" standsfor but was asking about it being stamped on the button instead of the leg as they are normally found???? Is it a different timeframe than being on the leg etc?

I've seen a few button marked versions of these. Now they were in a parts box, so I'm not able to say when they were used. They might be just a anomaly found were the new guy started stamping these till he was shown the proper spot. Or maybe purposefully stamped there to be more visual if the leg broke off if the new steel wasn't up to par. Just a few ideas, I've got nothing to back those statements up
