My wishlist is pretty extensive. The hard part is finding the money and rifle to buy. At the moment my wishlist looks like this, I might have missed one or two, quite a few rifles used in WWI

A Gewehr 98, 1886/93 Lebel, Winchester M1895, Arisakaicon Type 30, Early Arisaka Type 38, Lee Enfield No. 1 Mk. 3*, another No. 1 Mk. 3 though in proper WWI configuration not restored, Romanian M1893 Mannlicher, Belgian 1889 Mauser, Belgian 1889/16 Mauser, 1870/84/15 Vetterli, Remington Rolling Block in 8x50r, Gras rifle converted to 8x50r, a M16icon Berthier, Mannlicher 1888/90 for both Bulgaria and Austriaicon-Hungary, a Austrian-Hungarian M95 in 8x50r, Turkishicon M1890, M1893, and M1903 Mausers, Serbian Mausers, Long Lee converted to use chargers, M1917, M1903, etc.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... You can't find a 1870/84/15 Vetterli? You practically trip over the things here getting to the other rifles. I paid $60 for the last one I got and I only wanted it for the cleaning rod.

I can find them (just like Enfields) it is more finding the one I want. The issue being most are in crappy condition without the cleaning rod (or other issues like the gun has been painted, or the stock is cracked, etc.). I have seen a couple I would like, that being said the better condition ones tend to be scooped up pretty quickly, and the crappy ones tend to be on sale. The cost is also higher in Canadaicon (300-350$ generally), which means if I am buying one I want the best I can get for that price.

Do not, I repeat, do not buy one without the cleaning rod. I got lucky and one came up at the auction from hell and no one wanted it but me. Rifle and all for $60, traded the rifle to Mike for a fixer upper Yugoicon M24/48 and I think he had it sold before I left the gun show. Guys are asking $300 in some cases here but if they want to sell them they need to get in the $150 range. I'm trying to find one that hasn't been converted. Most I see are in pretty descent shape, lot of missing cleaning rods though.

It is actually your efforts to find a cleaning rod detailed on here earlier which makes me completely unwilling to get one without it. Unless one showed up for a smoking deal, I know exactly what I want for one of those, and until that is available I am not buying.
