    GEW98 Converted to K98k ?

    hello all,
    i was given this masuer can anyone tell me about it?

    i was told it was GEW98 converted 98k... was told the stock is not the original.. but other then that don't know much about...

    any info would be great...

    That's right. A Danzig '98 rifle converted to a carbine when they changed from rifle to carbine as standard. You see them occasionally but not as common as one would think. Specially where I am.

    Value on this one is tough. There has to be a market for something to get a good price and as this is a conversion, not as large a market as for either an original GEW98 or an actual K98icon. Condition also plays a factor as does matching numbers, etc. That being said, starting value is probably at least $500, where it goes from there is hard to say.

    Stock is Yugoslavian. Rear barrel band is mounted to the wrong side, but they are anyway wrong (very late stamped/welded type, while correct for this rifle would be milled). Check the triggerguard, appears to could be the early type.
