    Repro No32 Mk2 Scope Backlash

I recently purchased a repro No32 Mk2 and had to return it after noticing the post had slop while adjusting the range drum. Even tapping on the drum would cause the post to move. The vendor replaced the scope but I found that the replacement has the same defect. In trying to keep a more representative scope on my rifle, is there a practical solution for removing the backlash or are there recommendations for someone who does the repair?
    Thnx,

I don't know anyone who has yet to say anything good about these repro telescopes. There might be the odd person in the known universe who has something moderately mediocre to say - but I haven't heard from him. Certainly not on this forum yet! They are total crap. They are like a mickey mouse watch. OK to look at but no good if you need to know the time.

Sorry to be so brutal but I'm being as diplomatic as I can possibly be

Welcome to Milsurps, as you have gathered by #2 the quality lacks in these repro's so if you wish 3 options A) go again and hope you get a good'un that may work for a time B) save like mad and get a real M'coy one C) get a full refund then hunt around for a replacement in a modern scope as you do not say whether you have a clone T, real T or just a hack to plonk the repro on I gather you have either a bracket or No drill mounting system!
It is just the repro's from all the feed back here lack the robustness of the originals I mean the originals were parachuted in to the resistance with their matched T rifle in a transit case now that is pretty tough in any terms.
Good luck hope it works out for you

I have one of the scope-less Savage No4 MkI*'s. As you know, I am disappointed in the repro No32 Mk2 and the vendor has thus far been accommodating. I have a vintage Weaver K2.5 which seems to fit in the No32 mount pretty snug. Looks like it may be my scope of choice considering the availability/cost of an original No32.

I'll attempt to say something moderately mediocre about these repro No32 scopes; they're ok if you don't look too closely at it, you don't pay too much money for it and if it's fitted to a deactivated rifle.

I thought he produced them for the reenactor brigade like the tins etc not for the shooter brigade, or did I hear that wrong?

I'd go with the weaver until an original No32 cones along, but that can be some time but they do appear, like everything else when your looking for something, the price tag is eye watering and not many around, when your not looking there like windfall apples everywhere and a decent price...

Trouble is, many look for a No32 Mk3 complete with tin and bracket........ , but there have been Mk1 &11 scopes that have slipped under the radar and sold for a reasonable price. An original tin that needs a repair can be bought for not much more than a repro. all revolves around the right place and the right time and lots of patience.
