What would be the current import status for "gunsmith built" Enfield target rifles - i.e. a rifle identical to an L39A1 in all components, but built on a random No4 receiver with original markings? Is there a specific date cut-off, i.e. would a 1945 Mk1 or a 1949 Mk2 be ok, but a 1954 PF- Mk2 not be ok?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... They aren't importable. BATFE Imports Branch consider them altered from original military configuration therefore not eligible as a Curio and Relic. Because the bodies are military, they can't be imported as a sporting rifle either. I got turned down flat trying to import some Parker-Hale T4 target rifles three years ago.

Crazy rules Brian ... Hate to mention the upcoming presidential bun fight ... How do you think federal firearms law will change if either candidate win??

There was a L39 on a Canadianicon site for $3,000.00. Sold in less than a day.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

Yep, crazy and somewhat tiring at times. I haven't got a clue how it'll all turn out. The candidates are polar opposites so I reckon we'll find out on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm happy to be behind the times with the L39 price; because I've got one already
The huge prices being asked for L42s, however, sadly mean, I'll never own one.
