    Bren L4A3

Well, let's see what you all think.

It's supposed to be a L4A3 but I see no markings to indicate that and the markings which are present should have been barred out.

Now look closer and say what you see. I won't influence but there's something a little fishy.

    £2250 is the asking price

You'll have to give us a clearer location BP. But as I understand it, he does have a particularly good/honest name in that field. And old spec/ moveable deact prices are sky rocketing spacewards as we speak. I keep banging on to the flock about getting one - or two - while they're still available but it seems to fall on deaf ears........ C'est la vie

That's odd, it's gone. I can only assume that he's taken it down. Well I have saved some screen shots but they are low quality.

For £2250 you were getting a Inglis mk2 converted to L4A3 however the Inglis and Bren markings were crisp and not barred out. There were also no New L4 markings. It looked very well done but the thing I wanted people's opinion on was that it had been machined to Mkiv spec also. The only things that didn't conform to Mkiv were that the body side at the rear hadn't been machined (which would remove the word Bren) and part of the front. It was a good looking gun but a DIY I'm sure.

Some of the deacs on D&Bs web site do get sold almost as quickly as the item gets put up and this is especially true when there is only a single deact, for obvious reasons. I have been disappointed more than once to find that an item on their website which I've been interested in has already sold. They do seem to buy in collections and single items from time to time which produces some interesting and desirable goods for their website. I have purchased deacs and other items from them in the past and have found them as good as any other dealer to do business with.

For something like a deactivated L4 Bren which is likely to have a hefty price tag, personally, I would seek advice/help before parting with my cash due to my limited knowledge on this particular version of the Bren.

There has been some "funny business" going on with certain things connected to the internet today, apparently, as I found out earlier when trying to use Paypal. Paypal seems to be working ok now but I believe there was/is widespread problems today. You may find it works if you have another go later.

Your right, just went back on my photo hosting site and got a warning that they have been hacked. They are now flooded with advertising that I can't get rid of with out exiting the site.

Maybe converting a Mk2 deact into an L4A3 or 5 is the only way to go if you need to fill a hole in your line-up, given the scarcity of the real McCoys. Mind you, even that route will have disappeared soon unless you act now and get an old spec while they're available.............

Someone has just been on and asked me why I keep banging on - if you'll pardon the pun - about the fact that these old working mechanism specs will soon disappear - and do have I a vested interest in getting the news out. Nope, none at all........... But remember the original spec when the dewat/deact specs were fairly(?) loose(?) and liberal(?) and the UKicon collecting bods thought that things wouldn't change. And they did, not for the worse, but for the MUCH worse....... Get one now, even if it's just as an investment

  13. Thank You to Peter Laidler For This Useful Post:
