GI Trigger Spring Tool

Can someone with please explain how the trigger spring tool is used?

I have the trigger spring tool but from my unskilled take on it the twist tie was much simpler use. Compressing the spring into that tool was a job. I guess I just don't understand how it is set up and used for the rebuild.

I used a soft covered twist tie to keep the trigger spring in place and also to hold the hammer forward while replacing the hammer spring/plunger.

The correct tool pushes in from the rear of the mech through the hole provided. It captures and compresses the spring and then you lift the front loop out of the trigger and withdraw. Is that what you ask?

I'm not sure what I'm asking. But from your response I guess it is strictly for disassembling the trigger?

Works in reverse to install the trigger spring. After a few tries it is very easy.

I only use it to install the spring. It falls out during trigger disassembly, and no tool is needed.

I've never used the tool, mainly since I don't have one, but can see it making the job easier. I simply rest the bottom part on the spring on the opening of the hole and compress the top part down with my fingers to get it started in the hole. Once I get the spring in a certain position, I take the operating spring guide and drag it through the hole to its intended destination. One may need to take the guide to manipulate the top part of the spring to get it through the hole though since I've noticed some holes were deburred better than others. Usually this takes about 3 minutes to do, but have done it in less. The only trigger springs I've had serious issues with are the ones attributed to NPM. They have the upper extended legs and I can see the tool doing a much better job perhaps than my technique.

Some guys just use an empty cartridge. Some use a slave pin that pushes out with the real pin when the trigger is in position.

With a tool, of any kind, 30 seconds max.

And I'm still using those same ole cut off bic pens with the guts pulled out.

Work great and keeps my overhead $$ down !!
