Does anyone know the serial number range when the circle P proof was moved from behind the trigger guard to the base of the pistol grip on a GHS era stock?

I may be wrong but I don't believe the location of the proof P on the stock was ever officially changed. It is always on the pistol grip, sometimes centered, sometimes not. As we were involved in a World War, I would guess the location of the P was not really that important as long as it was on the grip and could be seen by the inspector. The location of the stock proof "P" on Winchester stocks seems to vary much more than SA.

I was just wondering. It seems to me that lend lease era Springfield rifles that are into at least the 400,000+ range have the proof behind the trigger guard, like a Winchester. And sometime after?, it was moved to the bottom of the grip for the majority of production there after.

Don't know if this helps or not, but I have a June 1942 SA rifle (type 1 lock bar too) and a short channel SA GHS stock with cartouche and the circle P proof is moved back like the EMcF and GAW stocks
