    Dating my Fulton flashlight

I picked this up at a flea market because it was as new. Its marked Fulton MX991\U Made in USAicon. There are Three red one diffused clear and one sold white plus the clear lens in the head lenses. Two D batts and it works including the Morris feature. Is there a way to date this?

Well, they were issued to us in the '70's and in RVN in the '60's... There was a straight bodied one as well and there was a yellow and black version marked to Mines and Surveyors... I never did have much luck with them. Then came maglite.

I just picked up a Black one at a flea market for a buck. Missing the gasket but same thing, like new.

    P.S
I just noticed, you're missing the gasket also.

What is the 'Morris feature'? Do you mean the flash button for Morse Code?

There are more as well, I've had green, blue and a patterned clear one. I also had two different types of IR lens. One was thin and flexible and one was glass.

I used these in 1968 and 69, never in any serious situation. In my experience they were inconsistent at best, not our best piece of equipment. I cannot imagine being one of those poor souls that were tunnel "rats" having to rely on these. Tom

That's why once I had the chance I went to maglite. I use a two cell "C" now. Over in Yugoicon the were issuing a four cell "C" for common use...too big for infantry use though.
