I think this has already been 'over thought'. I am sorry I made my interest known publicly.

FWIW - From my experience, U.S. Customs are easy to work with.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... It's perfectly legal to ship here, (USAicon), as long as it's declared for $100 or less. ANY firearm component worth more than $100 requires an ATF Form 6 import permit in order to legally import. This includes target sights but not telescopes.

There were P-08 Luger magazines coded fxo, (Haenel), manufactured during WWII that have plastic bottoms. They are correct on 41 date, 42 coded, (Mauser), pistols. Some are called "Black Widows" because they also have black plastic grip panels.

You can add 1001marked ww2 style magazines also. Made by East Germanyicon aluminum bottoms. I have a bunch of them.
Canadaicon got some East German luger many years ago. A friend of mine who also was a surplus arms importer gave
them to me along with 1911 45 lanyard magazines. He had nothing to do with importing the pistols. He got them for
nothing when he bought some guns from an exporter in Europe.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) covesr the following...

Category I—Firearms, Close Assault Weapons and Combat Shotguns

*(a) Nonautomatic and semi-automatic firearms to caliber .50 inclusive (12.7 mm).

*(b) Fully automatic firearms to .50 caliber inclusive (12.7 mm).

*(c) Firearms or other weapons (e.g. insurgency-counterinsurgency, close assault weapons systems) having a special military application regardless of caliber.

*(d) Combat shotguns. This includes any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches.

*(e) Silencers, mufflers, sound and flash suppressors for the articles in (a) through (d) of this category and their specifically designed, modified or adapted components and parts.

    (f) Riflescopes manufactured to military specifications (See category XII(c) for controls on night sighting devices.)

*(g) Barrels, cylinders, receivers (frames) or complete breech mechanisms for the articles in paragraphs (a) through (d) of this category.

    (h) Components, parts, accessories and attachments for the articles in paragraphs (a) through (g) of this category.

The last line covers magazines, sights etc etc, there is an exemption for miscellaneous parts like pins and springs with a value less than $100. You need to have an approved ATF Form 6 Application and Permit for Importation of Firearms, Ammunition and Implements of War to import magazines and gun parts. Failure to do so is a violation of Federal Law. Violations under the ITAR can bring civil penalties of $500,000 per violation and criminal penalties of up to $1 million per violation along with up to 20 years in prison.
