Criterion No4 barrels

Just wondering if anyone has tried out the Criterion No4 barrels? There was a lot talk about them last year and haven't heard much this year.

They look very good indeed, it's just a shame the cost of buying one and having your No4 re-barreled and proofed (from a UK perspective) is the same as buying a good original shooting No4!

I was speaking to someone at my local Range who had one fitted recently and the total cost was £580.... You really have to want to keep your rifle to spend that much money!

Just too expensive I think, better off getting a different No4.

Privately from some members, I've had some good feedback about their barrels ..

As you know, our site is not-for-profit, but Criterion is also a paid volunteer sponsoring advertising partner for our site, which we appreciate very much, as it helps to cover the costs of expensive monthly operations.



I'll ask Josh, their Marketing Director, to drop into this thread and perhaps contribute some of their experiences so far.

We all ought to be giving a BIG round of thanks to Criterion for putting their money where their mouth is - and a LOT of money too I should add. The same sh.out should also go to those others who have reproduced No7 parts, lenses, sub calibre kits and parts and other hard to get but much needed parts. Just my view of things

The same also goes to our friends in Fultons of Bisley, I understand they ordered a large number of these from Criterion.

The ones I have had here in the UK, have been really accurate & breach up easy with the Breaching Washers.

Because they are new barrels they have to comply with the CIP Specs which is tighter that our old military specs on head space.

A few have been rejected by the Proof House because of tight chambers, which is easily resolved with a CIP Spec chamber reamer

Ah......., CIP spec gauges are the reason for rifles being rejected for CHS now! Is CIP some new fangled EU criteria? Seems like they've overturned 120 years of rifle making knowledge now. Another reason that I voted OUT!

They even rejected L1A1 SLRs in new condition, im sure they incorrectly used .308 gauges in error, they were resubmitted to the other proof House and the passed proof
