    Question about Enforcer

    Good afternoon:
I recently acquired Enforcer #024, and thanks to Simon I now know it was shipped to the Metropolitan Police in 1974. It has the scope on it for rifle #393 (on the offchance anyone has my scope or vice versa). My rifle as a simple block where the front sight would be, no globe, and also has no bipod. The stock is matching as the 024 serial number is stamped on the underside, and as best I can tell there is no provision for it having had a bipod, unless the bipods on these clamped to the barrels? I cannot find a good source for good photos of these rifles--does anybody know if all of these were supplied with bipods, or was that at the discretion of the individual police force? If anyone is interested, I can post some photos.

    Thanks.

    Ed

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. From what I have read, individual departments could select accessories for their rifles, sights, scopes, chests, bipeds. The Harris bipods I have seen on Enforcers clamped onto the front barrel band instead of a swivel.

Nice rifles. Google search Enfield Enforcer Andrew Stephens for some history and photos.
