    South Store Visit, 11 March

A friend wanted some ammo and had a day off se we went to the South Store. Looking through the racks, we found a rebuilt Garandicon Service Grade in a new CMPicon birch stock. The S/N was just over 2 million, from Oct 1943 and the rest of the parts are mixed; -2 bolt, late war trigger housing; a new, post-war op rod, etc. The barrel is the best: A LMR 9-64 barrel that went 1.5 MW & 2 TE so it is probably new. The metal is perfect; the finish on all parts matches and is about 98% with no pits anywhere. R-65 is electro penciled on the heel, just behind the rear sight. It was probably never issued. I can't guess what happened to the original stock but it was bad enough to repalce it.

We got a few cans between us. Ammo sales are brisk. We were told some people buy 50 cans at a time.
