Swift Training Rifle Arrows to punch paper

With the help of one of our members I was able to purchase a Swift training rifle training stand and two Mark IV rifles. The "arrows" which punch holes in the targets are cut off about four inches from the muzzle. I plan to have this operational for our museum. I have no idea of the dimensions of them. Is there anyone out there who has them and would be willing to send me a drawing and photos of them including the rod that they are attached to? I can't believe that they were cut on both the complete rifle and the one for parts! Someone must think they are a real danger to the population! Thanks for your help.

I saw a chest for a Swift advertised recently. Need one?

Talking of Swifts.......... I had access to two. One suitable for parts and the other sort-of serviceable. You coukld easily make up one good from both. I duly put them on that auction site with a covering statement as to their legality and non lethality, etc etc etc. And guess what? Yep....... you guessed it! I told them again and again in email too-ing and fro-ing but nope. They were firearms - or gertainly parts of firearms and the man from Del Monte says NO, so NO it was!

Sold them both eventually to a collector in the Midlands - who was a Policeman!

I was sort of hoping someone could at least take pics or measurements of one and he could make a replica. That's what I would do...they look like a finishing nail after all. I'm sure they were simple construction in the first place...

The UKicon ones were made 8 miles from here by a small woodworking/building company in Oxford that only recently ceased trading. The wood was generally poplar cut down from St Johns woods near Botley.

    Hey, Biged,

Do you need a set of original targets for your museum?

As I recall, the target box he obtained was empty. I told the vendor that we probably had some here somewhere...

To keep you guys up, I have managed to restore both the rifle and stand. It is a great deal of work to make and install the arrows! I will be putting photos up as soon as possible. Anyone wishing to bring their "DEWAT" back to operational status please let me know and I will share my knowledge with them. By the by, does anyone know how to remove the action from these? I have taken the screws out from the trigger guard and fake mag but I can't get to the screws that I can see inside on the bottom of the action. Also anyone taken the bolt out? This is a real learning experience but worth it. I spoke to the head editor at the American Rifleman about doing an article about this and he is very interested. I don't know if this is the only complete working set in existence or not but it is really rare. We have the Mark IV rifle, now works, Britishicon target stand, complete, original targets, RAF wood box, and the target carrying box. These will all be on display at Aviation Cadet World. I am talking to local schools about doing a presentation on this as well as our "Friend or Foe" model kits that we are producing out of balsa as they were done during WWII. They are shown on our web site "online store". aviationcadet.org
I just put two photos up in the gallery title:Swift restoration
