    M1 Carbine Bayonet

I've got this bayonet which was sold to me as a conversion by a Country other than the U.S.iconA. in order for it to fit the M1 Carbine. I have tried it on my U.K. deactivated M1 Carbine and it does fit and I think that the vendor may have mentioned that he thought that Norwayicon may have done the conversion. That is about all I know about it and I was wondering if Forum Members could help me out by advising me on it, please. What it was originally, if a conversion, who may have done the conversion work if that is what it is and when this work may have been done. Many thanks for any help.

Yes, this is Norwegianicon. It was originally a Model 1894 Krag bayonet. The Norwegians modified them post-WWII for the US M1icon Carbine.

According to Per Holmback, the Norwegian designation is M1956 SLK and they made about 31,000 of them.

They were quite common a few years back; but like everything, they're all over the place then you can't find one.

I think that the vendor had 2 for sale and I purchased 1 of them. Would these bayonets have sat in a storage facility inside Norwayicon during the Nazi occupation or would they have been imported into Norway post WW2 and then converted? If they were within Norway for the occupation I'm surprised that the Germans didn't do something with them even if only used them for scrap metal.
